SERVICE PROJECTS

This program supports military families by recording deployed service members reading children’s books aloud. Once recorded, the DVD and book is sent to their children back home. The children then watch the DVD and follow along in the book. This gives the children an opportunity to stay visually connected to their parent until they return, and gives the service member an opportunity to continue to experience one of life’s greatest parenting pleasures—reading to children.
This program is currently offered at USO locations around the world, including the USO center at DFW Airport.
The KDO students are asking you to donate new books that they will personally deliver to the DFW Airport USO in April when they help “send off” the troops heading back into service. They are collecting books for any age—toddler through adult. The only restriction is that they must be NEW as the program does not accept used books.
